The most common question from clients is “What’s the weather like?”. Everyone is aware from our school days when Mediterranean climates were defined as long hot and dry summers with mild wet winters, but to compare Barcelona to Malaga, or Huelva and the Costa de la Luz shows significant differences.
These differences between areas are to do with the physical nature and character of the land that can cause micro-climates.The Ayamonte area, including Costa Esuri and Isla Canela benefit from a maritime micro-climate. Everywhere there is water; magnificent rivers, picturesque estuaries and a scenic coastal area with long flat beaches. The weather averages (source: Eurostat) highlight the best climate in Europe with no extremes. Cool breezes in the heat of summer keep temperatures milder than any other area.
The current extreme heat of summer on the other coasts, and heavy overbuilding has caused heat hazes in July and August, with that a new phenomenon, unpleasant humidity, drought and rationing of water. The name ‘Costa de la Luz‘ means the ‘Coast of Light’, and the area is renown for photographers as the sky is a clear blue and stars show brightly at night, landscapes are lush with greenery and water is plentiful.

The benefits from the geography are not just to the climate, these unique physical features of estuaries, rivers and coastline give all our properties a wonderful relationship with water and give locations of outstanding natural beauty.
Ayamonte is surrounded by water in a venetian character. Riverview Residences borders both the town and the river. Its uniquely elevated site embrace the both the views to Portugal and the Guadiana River. Roof top terraces have the most amazing sunsets.
The Costa Esuri Resort is slightly inland, to the east boundary is an estuary and river with flamingos and other bird species which you cross . The centre of the resort is a golf course and trees that run along the Guadiana river that is the boundary to Portugal, The river keeps inland temperatures down in the summer.
Isla Canela is a unique set of islands set among estuaries and marshes. One of the islands, Isla Canela is a perfect destination to enjoy with children, on its fine sandy beaches and calm waters, cycling through the marshes and even learning to sail like young pirates.
During the hot summers, the cool breeze from the Atlantic is
a daily character which allows activities without discomfort.
Punta del Moral is a fishing village adjoining Isla Canela, it
is packed with unique fish restaurants. With mild winter temperatures you can
eat out all year.
